Art Piece Story

"Journey To Recovery"

This art piece was created by the above-listed members of The Brain Injury Association of Ohio, Greater Cleveland Chapter, to be presented to the city of Cleveland Bicentennial.

The art piece will be placed at the Service for Independent Living Agency in honor of those survivors of brain injury.

This is the story of the journey of life with brain injury. After the brain injury (TBI) one of the first feelings is confusion. You can't remember what happened 5 minutes ago. Then you start remembering who you used to be. Then depression sets in. Figuring out who you used to be hurts. But trying to figure out what you're going to do with life is confusing!

Our collage starts out on the steps. You climb the steps on the road to recovery. Then there is the tree of growth. We live and grow as life progresses. We can ride our balloon into the future. Life would be scary if we couldn't find haven in the tree of growth or a way to escape. The future is a nice place to hide. Mostly the future is where we will grow and prosper as productive members of society. Life with a TBI is scary, but it's nice to know that there is a productive future down the road
