Art Piece Story

THE TREE AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD

The great tree at the top of the world is flowering,
sending her petals down in a soft blanket over the earth.
Birds in the uppermost branches wing their way heavenward.
Great roots anchor deep in the planet's core, like a heart.

Those who follow these roots must go
down the dark, cavernous core, to the realms of the dead,
and there sit with the white bone of grief,
and after a while, ascent through the trunk
of the human world, overcome the temptation
to curl up, suckle the sap and disappear in mindless ebb and flow.
