Participants' Stories

The Life We Live is Yours and Mine

9-16-94

Have you ever had a traumatic head injury and did it alter your capability? Did it change the way you view society?
Well, I have had a traumatic brain stem injury
and
it has altered my sense of reality
it has re-directed my life's destiny

even if my TBI happened in 1979, and some medical advancements, society's views have changed since that time-the changed life I live is still mine
many doors have been shut, but I will not give up!
Give up, the hope that I can still cope even if I've almost given up that hope and when this life I live is less than fine...
like it or not, this life I live is still mine!
A TBI is a heavy, hard load to carry down life's continuing long, rocky road - But, I can make it this time, if any- because this life I live is still mine! I wish to give you this hope I found...
Believe in yourself and try...even when no one else may be around-
Because this life we live is still yours and mine.
Thank God we can do it together!
