Seven Great Reasons
to Engage in a GTI Art Workshop!
• 1. The GTI collaborative art workshop is a unique experience for group members.
• 2. The project focuses on the process of creation, which parallels the process of healing and growth.
• 3. Members engage in an artistic process that enables them to create a visual expression addressing a common theme.
• 4. Members take 100% ownership for directing the creation of a visual and verbal expression of their life experience.
• 5. The process invites participants to be co-creators of an expressive artistic community.
• 6. The interactive workshop offers people a creative means to express their relationship with their life truth.
• 7. Workshops are open to family members, friends and other organized groups.
Project Goals
• 1. Provide a safe space for people to express themselves personally and within a group.
• 2. Focus on the process of creation, which parallels the process of living.
• 3. Foster untapped self-expression and promote personal accomplishment.

Project Results
• 1. For most participants the internal outcome is immeasurably positive.
• 2. The shared experience leaves all members with feelings of growth and discovery.
• 3. Engaging in the GTI program enables people to begin expressing themselves in ways they previously did not imagine possible.
• 4. The physical outcome from each completed project is a professional art piece with an accompanying book.
• 5. Each participant receives a Certificate of Artistry with photo and a copy of the story of the art piece creation.
• 6. It is common for members to realize that completing this project means they can take on and complete other projects they've been wanting to do.
Workshop Process
• 1. The first step involves group members brain-storming ideas, qualities, feelings, images and words that represent their lives regarding the common theme.
• 2. Movement helps participants to embody emotions and thoughts as images are generated to represent these words.
• 3. Collective decisions are made to create a composition which represents a combination of these images.
• 4. The group then builds the composition into three-dimensional forms.
• 5. Members discuss their lives in context of common themes and write about their personal experiences.
• 6. Writings are photocopied, and each person pastes his or her writing to the art piece.
• 7. Group members paint the final images with acrylic paints, adding both color and form to the piece.
• 8. Together the group writes a new story reflecting the breadth of their collaborative expression, allowing them to create a positive perspective
• 9. Individuals then read what they have written to the group.
• 10. Documentation of the workshop process, original writings and photographs create a book that is displayed beside the final artwork.
• 11. Video documentation is recorded and left with the sponsoring facility to be used for future healing reference.
• 12. Public presentation of the final art piece celebrates group members' accomplishments and honors their life in ways not possible before.
