Overview of GTI Workshops
In September 1993, the first Growing Through It® Art Workshop was held in Empire Colorado, facilitated by Mrs. Bittin Foster Duggan. Since that time 53 more workshops have been held throughout country in eleven different states.
The focus of the earlier workshops was supporting those recovering from traumatic brain injury to create "a visual expression of living with brain injury" (Cleveland Nursing Weekly, 1996).
More recently, Growing Through It® workshops have expanded to include various groups of people who come together for exploration and growth through artistic impressions.
_ Fifty-five GTI Workshops have been conducted in 11 states _

Demographic Overview of Participants
As of September 2004, 480 people have participated in the GTI workshops. With repeat participation, over 600 people have created reflective GTI art pieces.
Each participant is asked to complete a Commitment Contract at the outset of the workshop. At the end of the workshop, the participants also complete a questionnaire asking about for their feedback on their workshop experiences. In an ideal world, the following statistics would reflect the responses of all of the participants. However, since the world is less than a perfect place, our records do not reflect the responses of all of the participants. The information is based on the commitment contracts and ending questionnaires that we have. Some commitment contracts and ending questionnaires were missing responses. We hope to present as complete of a picture as possible of the participants, their views, and experiences of the workshops.
Out of the total questionaires sent, 391 respondents completed parts of either the committment contract and / or the feedback questionnaire. 199 (54%)of these respondents were men, 169 (46%) were women, and <1% declined to specify their gender.
More In-Depth Statistical information about GTI Workshops and Graduates will be available for viewing December 2008.
