WORKSHOP PROCESS
- The group decides on a shared theme.
- Members brainstorm words that express ideas, qualities, feelings, and images regarding the common theme.
- Group members assist in drawing a final composition that represents these words.
- Personal stories are written about individual experiences of these words.
- Paper-maché forms are built of the composition to give dimension to the piece as group members cover the surface with copies of their writings.
- The composition is painted in acrylics, adding definition, color & individual style.
- The group collaboratively writes a new story of what the art piece means for them today - a powerful reflective process.
- Members read their personal stories to share their perspective with the group. Video documentation is left with the sponsor for future reference.
- A book with photos is made which documents the entire process as detailed above.
- This accompanying book is displayed beside the completed art as an educational tool where viewers can also write comments.
- Each participant receives a Certificate of Artistry with a photo and the story of the art piece creation.
